Import & Export
Budgetzilla supports various import and export formats for data portability.
Export Options
Section titled “Export Options”CSV Export
Section titled “CSV Export”Export individual data types as CSV files:
- Transactions — All transaction data
- Categories — Your category definitions
- Budgets — Budgetzilla allocations
Go to Settings > Export and select the data type to export.
Excel Export
Section titled “Excel Export”Export all data as a single Excel workbook with multiple sheets:
- Go to Settings > Export
- Click Export to Excel
- Download the
.xlsxfile
The workbook includes:
- Transactions sheet
- Categories sheet
- Budgets sheet
- Summary statistics
Import Options
Section titled “Import Options”Cashew Import
Section titled “Cashew Import”Budgetzilla supports importing from Cashew, a popular budgeting app:
- Export your data from Cashew as CSV
- Go to Settings > Import
- Select Cashew CSV
- Upload your file
- Review the preview
- Confirm import
CSV Import
Section titled “CSV Import”Import transactions from any CSV file:
- Go to Settings > Import
- Select CSV
- Upload your file
- Map columns to Budgetzilla fields
- Preview the data
- Confirm import
Expected CSV Format
Section titled “Expected CSV Format”date,description,amount,category2024-01-15,Grocery Store,-45.67,Food & Dining2024-01-16,Salary,3000.00,SalaryData Backup
Section titled “Data Backup”Manual Backup
Section titled “Manual Backup”Regularly export your data to maintain backups:
- Export to Excel (includes everything)
- Store the file safely (cloud storage, external drive)
Automated Backup
Section titled “Automated Backup”Use Google Drive sync for automatic backups.
Migration from Other Apps
Section titled “Migration from Other Apps”If you’re coming from another budgeting app:
- Export data from your current app (usually CSV)
- Use the CSV import with column mapping
- Review and clean up categories
- Verify transaction totals match
